i have almost-5-year-old 12" ibook g3 128 megs of ram , original 20gb drive seemed fine until tonight. wife attempted open large word document (16,000 pages) 600 megs of free disk space when machine crashed , couldn't reboot. kept getting question mark/empty folder icon. put ibook target disk mode , drive came fine on emac desktop. rescued files, tossed bunch of stuff free 4gb of disk space on ibook, verified drive disk utility, shut down , attempted reboot. still wouldn't work. booted off original system cd without problem, thought perhaps should reinstall latest version of os x via target disk mode. except when tried boot ibook holding down "t" key, happened shut off power. huh? repeated process several times same results. chimes play, power shuts down. if try install directly system cd, installer can't find hard drive @ all. suspect it's drive, why have been able target disk mode work 1 time , not other...

ok, here's new thought screen issue. have 16 gig screen issue in glory. so, brought on 3800 photos have touch, , scrolling through, exhibiting problem - except 1 batch - seemed working perfectly??!!!!??? looked @ photos on in iphoto, , blacks kind of washed out on them - quite bit, actually. each photo seemed on exposed. if it's not screen issue @ all, algorithm being used present photos , video on screen. rather being simple increase/decrease overall brightness correction, thing user can on ipod, apple, in software fix, produces right curve correct problem. don't take word - go photoshop or adjust in iphoto sample image used seeing in negative on ipod touch. roll blacks 20% , brighten rest of photo 10-15%. bring photo touch , voila! no more problem. predict software fix in no time. willing bet screen drivers messed , need curve programmed in correct problem. anyway, try playing around bit , see if don't find dramatic im...

i have 300 cds i'm re-ripping library 2 reasons (1) had hard drive failure corrupted / lost of files , (2) i'm shifting mp3 apple lossless format. setup: macmini linked entertainment center itunes playback ahve 2 other macbooks on network. itunes library on external hardrive connected mini via firewire --accessible macbooks via network. issue 1: can load itunes library external hard drive on each of 3 machines, have each of 3 re-rip cds simultaneously overwrite old files? after cds have been re-ripped, i'd tell itunes on macmini rebuild library knew actual file types cds imported macbooks. issue 2: want overwrite existing songs (1) avoid duplicate files , (2) i've misplaced / stored couple hundred other cd's, can't erase old library, rip 3 machines, import mini b/c large loss of cds. plan follows, i'm not if work or if it's best way: 1. erase itunes library (not files) on 3 machines clean start. 2. ...
