i tried install counter-strike on vmware image of windows xp pro x64 edition. thing when opened application, told run in software mode. how play game utilizing geforce 8600gt graphics card?
have checked box virtualmachine->settings->display->accelerate 3d graphics. shouldn't problem.
tried downloading driver nvidias web site, not install it.
the virtual video card in virtual machine "vmware svga ii", not
8600gt (check device manager). real video card is
doesn't matter. that's "virtual" about.
vmware's 3d incomplete, directx 8.1 , no opengl. not all
games can work on it.
boot camp recommended gaming because of direct
hardware access. boot camp doesn't support 64-bit yet, but
in sense doesn't supply necessary 64-bit drivers.
i've heard of people have installed xp-64 on boot camp, tracking
down , installing correct drivers themselves. don't play games, so
i've never had need myself, can't there.
you'll need track down kind of howto on making xp-64
work in boot camp.
