hello all! recent iphone $100 rebate, thinking of getting better productivity in dorm use newest revision of mbp (2.2 c2d, 4gb ram, 120gb 5400rpm, etc) , have chunky ol' maxtor 200gb fw400/usb2.0 external hard drive. looking airport extreme @ first network drive don't have keep plugging in , unplugging (to save space, keep drive stored away until need out). then, why not portable external hard drive that's bus-powered? love design of g-drive minis , them being bus-powered, felt right choice... problem of choice came up. want do, ideally, partition external (whichever 1 buy) have 1 backups , storage (movies, music, software, crap, etc) , other actual mac os x bootable volume (or maybe partition whole damn thing, want external bootable). reason want able install , run adobe cs3 off of drive via booting via either fw400 or fw800 intel mac pros in design computer lab (they have adobe cs2). figure best performance fw800, faster fw400 ...
