iMac 20'' HD 2400XT can't handle FCP! (and other impressions...)

so @ apple store today 1.5 hrs playing new imac , ilife toys. can sure 20'' base model 128mb hd 2400 xt cannot handle fcp! video playback far smooth lots of freezing , stuttering. shocked why apple install fcs on machine if can't handle it. rebooted , closed unecessary apps fcp made no improvement. pointed out problem apple employee , told me "might because of low 128mb vram" played 20'' hd 2600 xt , fcp worked flawlessly.

other impressions:
-upon seeing pics of new imac upon release, @ first impulse "ugh! why black bezel? why?" seeing in person, many have said, might change mind. now. combo of black , aluminum ain't bad @ more sophisticated look.

-the keyboard both aesthetically , functionally awesome. typing requires less force on over old-style apple external kb.

-i don't know why many of keep whinning how white on kb doesn't match new imac. don't think it's bad have made it. mouse white keyboard match perfectly. plus think apple wanted new kb compatible white imacs (incase people want upgrade kbs) choosing white , silver match both models.

-the heartbreaker (*gulp*) glossy screen reflective. didn't understand big deal glossy until saw in person. display, lcd or glass, makes reflect. see shape of head along who's behind me. (perfect if you're paranoid type) though imagine learn block out , didn't mind much. can understand how might unacceptable others.

despite everything, love new imac , f going buy one, i'll tempted buy midrange 24''. , if had more money burn, 2.8ghz variant. being college student, can still feel huge hole in pocket blasted beloved mbp 4 months ago.
 

doesn't fcp work on basic intel graphics? thought had same specs fce...

ok want macbook. im waiting couple of things. first of leapord of course. secondly when next hardware update going happen because figure must judgeing when last update was. things thats holding me getting 1 graphics card. want light video editing such capturing footage or small sd projects use imac hd , large project editing. light gaming, aoe iii, battlefield games, , wow. can wait while before end of year/ january. when guys think update happen (i know there bunch of speculation already) , if not guys think should go ahead , macbook (after leapord update of course). im not looking absolutly stellar performance in editing , gaming, have desktop that, travel , general use. dont want 1 of people goes "well whats coming should wait that" because in computers never end. im in bit of conundrum, guys think should do?   also if possible can tell me gma 950 card far how video preview works fin...

Powerbook G4 power issue

good evening , first post =) i'll try start out on right foot , sound half-way intelligent. acquired gimped powerbook g4 1 of our 'daughter' companies. laptop works fine when using a/c adapter. if unplug a/c adapter while power on, screen/keyboard lights go off. however, hard drive still spinning. if plug a/c adapter in, lcd backlight comes on, not display on screen. have hold power button down few seconds power down completely. upon turning on, works fine again. sound battery issue or motherboard problem? have checked battery serial number against recall list , 1 supposably good. in advance!   to me sounds hardware (or possibly software) problem. run permissions repair (using disc utility) , make sure software date (use software update check). fresh install of osx may solve too, had similar problem ibook , sorted it, may motherboard issue; if have hardware test disc, run...

Apple Script

okay im going lay down problem explian have tried. cool responces. problem have external program saves files path blaa/blaa/movies way in saves these movies compreses movies files 1 file in folder. eg puts different compents folder bundles them delates orginals. problem disc saving doesnt have enough room movies needs store. cant set location of store movies have try route them somewhere. first of when tried making alias folder on different disk program gave me message saying cant save file. thinking of thought make workflow gets items in folder movies them location. tested work flow , worked perfectly. problem getting automated when ever file made in directory. script came , attacheted vie folder actions doesnt work ??? wtf?? help? on adding folder items this_folder after receiving added_items tell application "macintosh hd:users:username:library:workflows:applications:folder actions:moviefile.app" open added_items end...
