New Flash Drives To Be Used for iPods?

reject conventional notion customer should have choose between flash drive , hard disk. i'd see notebook computers room 1 of each. not hybrid hard disks being offered samsung (which microsoft refers readydrive technology) or microsoft's related readyboost technology, flash drive acts cache hard disk.

both approaches ideas, getting significant benefits small amounts of flash memory-- gigabyte or less-- i'd see notebooks large flash drive made available independent logical drive on system. way, files can distributed according access characteristics. files see lot of random reads-- os, applications, email data files, virtual-memory swap file, etc.-- can put on flash drive. hard disk need spin transfer large media files, make backups of modified files flash drive, , other accesses involve long sequential reads , writes.

wow, imagine touchscreen widescreen ipod 120 gig flash - awesome. i'm willing wait year (i think 60gig ipod fill long before then, though).

 

if notebook sized drives, they'll big ipod. progress nonetheless.
