hi, i'm using powerbook g4 running os x 10.4.7.
bought external hard drive: seagate st3320620as 320g sata ii ncq 16m 7200rpm.10. put inside ritmo 3.5'' case.
plugged mac first time , received message: "the disk inserted not readable computer." clicked on initialize see kind of options had, drive in disk manager button says "repair disk" grayed out , can't figure out make readable. kind of drive should compatible macs shouldn't it?
cheers,

hi bob,
welcome forums!
should able format disk using disk utility. message got normal considering it's new , unformatted drive.
plug drive in, open disk utility, click on erase tab, choose format (keep mac os extended (journaled) if intend on using on macs only, if plan on using on mac , win/linux/etc choose ms dos (fat), keep in mind, fat hold files 4gb in individual size).
since it's new drive, i'd go distance , choose security options , 0 out data, check whole drive on errors. may take while, depending on size of disk.
once that's done, disk ready use. enjoy!
