Thermal Repair: Success!

let me start saying i'm apple authorized repair technician. i've certifications work on macs. so, said, took out motherboard , reapplied thermal paste.

machine had been rather cool, except when playing games. (world of warcraft/halo etc..)

upon digging deep computer extract blue motherboard, found ati x1600 caked thermal paste. flaked off. compleetely useless. northbridge , cd2 merom okay, not paste. removed remaining thermal paste rubbing alchohol , non static cloth. (you can use coffee filters if you're worried not being gounded. use grounding strip , pad) , applied arctic silver 5 chips.

use buisness card spread small paste evenly on chip. not use razor blade! can damage die there no protective heatsink!

once chips sufficiently glazed as5, reassembly began. painstaking process correctly. trusty 15" macbook pro take apart manual easy keep track of everything. there screw order re-seating motherboard! not randomly toss screws in order. order key applying motherboard tention heatsink , temperature sensor array.

once task of assembly complete, checked both temperature monitor lite , istat pro...

fans 2002 rpm , 1997 rpm. (note did not cut tape covers on fans apple suggested, don't trust kapton tape)

cores @ shocking 28c
more notabley ati core @ 22c

mind turning on, no heat up.

next test: wood surface 8 hours @ idle itunes.

cores: 41c
ati: 36 c

final test: wood surface 4 hours
applications running:
handbrake
mac ripper
itunes
logic pro
firefox
ichat
mail
safari
world of warcraft
processors window (from developer's kit)

running played wow in shattarah city 1 hour windowed , full screen each. remaining 2 hours spent here , checking mail chatting , ripping/burning etc...

processor cores after test: 57c
processor cores during test: 78c
fan speed under stress: 4005 rpm left 4002 rpm right
fan speed after compleeting test 1996 rpm left 2002 right
core temp: 54c
current cpu usage: less 10% of cores

ati core during test: 44c
ati core after test: 42c
ati core during world of warcraft session full/windowed mode: 57c

during of this, downloaded boot camp beta 1.3

stand shocked, awed , amazed...

gpu used hover around 70c while under stress, cool off idle @ 55c. cores sit @ 49c , under stress go 59c. fans gun @ 6000 rpm wow open half hour.

repair worth 2 hours spent. thought lucky , had cool macbook pro. seem cpu wise, fine, gpu taking serious hit...

4000 rpm both fans 2 hours of wow? priceless...

can rest machine on bare thighs , play hours. how apple intended machines be. why are. why bow down before goddess of technology , cry enough capacity understand transition 10.5 bring me.

make future perfect. apple has been part of that.

so, of have read if have macbook pro of type. thermal repair done! don't need without months or fourth mbp replaced. feel sorry of have encountered problem , haven't had solution. able take own hands, i'm trained , certified this.

take apple, take stores. print out. show them results demand satisfaction. no techomancer shoulder without beloved book of religion of technology... know this, apple address , fix this.

boot camp 1.3

okay, i've fallen in love apple agian...

boot camp gorgeous.

hate windows. use every day. infections, driver issues, windows compatibility nightmares, memory leaks , new virus, called? there 6 versions watch out for, vis something. vista? maybe... :d

sorry, i'm not windows hatter. it's necessary evil, take xp or media centre on version of vista.

partition resizing tool amazing. i've not seen cool since fwb , norton disk tools 2.0 os-7. flawless. driver disc created in os-x , burned me question write new 1 when open boot camp assistant. wondrous. lastly...

install. sata drivers included when partition recreated. don't delete them or install succesfull, windows won't able find drive.

switching , forth takes less 30 seconds... amazing. see fast user switching style of fast os-switching or suspending 1 other or hybrid verision or asigning each core... done.

said... core 2 duo 2.33 ghz merom machine.

test did , boot camp install went flawless. of have 4 gb of ram in new santa rosa chipset, not envy you, bow you. 2 gb of ram paired... never saw more gb of ram usage.

cores never went above 66%... doing of did in above test , install.

on $1999.00 pc, dare you...

every single penny... every hour spent on machine, paying homage custom apple iic... has been worth it. 128k ram when comodore 64 wan't new.

Powerbook G4 power issue

good evening , first post =) i'll try start out on right foot , sound half-way intelligent. acquired gimped powerbook g4 1 of our 'daughter' companies. laptop works fine when using a/c adapter. if unplug a/c adapter while power on, screen/keyboard lights go off. however, hard drive still spinning. if plug a/c adapter in, lcd backlight comes on, not display on screen. have hold power button down few seconds power down completely. upon turning on, works fine again. sound battery issue or motherboard problem? have checked battery serial number against recall list , 1 supposably good. in advance!   to me sounds hardware (or possibly software) problem. run permissions repair (using disc utility) , make sure software date (use software update check). fresh install of osx may solve too, had similar problem ibook , sorted it, may motherboard issue; if have hardware test disc, run...

okay im going lay down problem explian have tried. cool responces. problem have external program saves files path blaa/blaa/movies way in saves these movies compreses movies files 1 file in folder. eg puts different compents folder bundles them delates orginals. problem disc saving doesnt have enough room movies needs store. cant set location of store movies have try route them somewhere. first of when tried making alias folder on different disk program gave me message saying cant save file. thinking of thought make workflow gets items in folder movies them location. tested work flow , worked perfectly. problem getting automated when ever file made in directory. script came , attacheted vie folder actions doesnt work ??? wtf?? help? on adding folder items this_folder after receiving added_items tell application "macintosh hd:users:username:library:workflows:applications:folder actions:moviefile.app" open added_items end...
