after installing ram, can run apple hardware test
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303081

make sure run extended testing...it take longer, worth it.

recommend downloading rember:
http://www.kelleycomputing.net:16080/rember/

can run few passes of ram allocated possible.

these test memory.

honest, best test using system.

when got new memory, 1 of things did massive iphoto import (over 13,000 images). tested memory great. on first set showed lots of ecc errors in system profiler when doing import, while apple hardware test , rember didn't show anything.
