No way to type a Tilda (A.K.A. ~) in a web address?

i searched forum , didn't find mention of this. know it's not common, assume have tried now. playing friend's iphone tonight, , wanted check out picture gallery. web page address http://home.comcast.net/~tms2010/albums (take if ya want :)). realize it's not pretty domain, unix default, , there still home pages out there have ~'s. there no problem tying ~ in other text field, refuses acknowledge ~ valid character web address. can't bring special characters screen has ~ on when in address bar. not major problem per-say, should possible. thoughts?
 

use symbol key, shift. double-checked in safari, url - works expected.
