Bootcamp troubles

i posted on forum better posting here.

bought new 20" imac in august , has been brilliant. when received unit wanted install bootcamp run hl2, css , other games. when installed bootcamp went through process , used windows xp sp2 disc previouly used on old pc had built.

when bootcamp booted windows there 1 partition available called c , 130gb. wanted 80gb partition , didn't right turned off computer. resulted in fatal error.

mac wouldn't boot up, tried resetting pram, holding down x, holding down option etc. looked on internet , noticed there many people have had exact same problem , doesn't appear have been addressed apple.

links same problem:

thankfully week old able replace unit , sitting replaced unit.

wish try , install bootcamp want play games on machine.

have bought external hard drive can backup osx incase goes wrong again , ease of backing important data. if same problem occured not able boot off disk again mac not access external drive when broken, i'm hopeful won't happen again.

if not select partition on windows screen go through installation of windows deleting old mac partition in process. should able boot off external , copy os on internal drive again if happen.

can confirm work?

sorry long post think problem people should aware of can mess mac when haven't done wrong.

in advance.
