Switchers first impressions with Mac Pro

having been content windows user decided make switch mac because of positive things reviews saying ease of use, stability , fact final cut express said better adobe premier... box full of home movies, felt going mac in end smartest move. decision buy new imac or refurbished mac pro easy 1 me given ability upgrade alone.

before ever plugging box in installed 2 new hard drives , 4gb of ram purchased owc. ease of installation amazing least... until plugged in. nothing. fired up, nothing on monitor. thought monitor settings wrong.. nope. called apple.. told wasnt owner of box despite trying explain through pretty difficult language barrier bought refurbished , may not listed original owner. given 3 options.. go online , search clue on apple.com, pay $50 phone support, or buy apple care 249.... @ point tossed thing in box , shipped back..

removed hd's , 4gb , fired 1 last time... fine. went , put in hd's.. still fine. went , reinstalled ram.. no good. tried several combinations.. called owc , got rma on it..

so.. 3 hours later.. internet connection took hour.. 4 hours , import itunes library.. goes without hitch.

have used picassa , loved it.. import 4000 pics iphoto , find pic folders scattered.. cant seem find way sort them correctly.. later went out , took pics try import feature camera. create dump folder, import them that, delete ones not keeping, rename remaining ones doing 50 @ time 2 clicks of mouse... not easy tonight... after trying batch rename gave up... frustrated.

so.. after 8 hours box walked away feeling of, "jesus hope made right move". $3,000 invested hope so.... know been 8 hours.. guess hoping have been bit easier... have say, first impression not intuitive guys.. , man miss right click button... tell me gets easier...

it gets easier :)

1 thing remember osx not windows. know sounds dumb/obvious true. things may not expecting them or may act differenty. not bad thing different.

being said, picase osx nice addition. ;)

take things slow, ask lot of questions, play around , have fun.
have tried final cut yet?
