I think my 4th MBP might be a keeper!

well if you've seen of previous posts, you'll know i've had few problems macbook pros. i'm on fourth 15" 2.4ghz machine.

quick history...

1st mbp (week 23 build, samsung led panel)
- noticeable yellow tint on bottom 1/3 of display panel
- constant kernel panics related airport.atheros driver when running on battery power
- crooked return key

2nd mbp (week 23 build, samsung led panel)
- uneven backlighting on display panel, dark sections
- dead pixel centre of screen towards bottom
- crooked return key

3rd mbp (week 23 build, samsung led panel)
- display, but: major power management problems - not hold charge, kept discharging battery @ abnormally fast rate during sleep , when switched off. when battery swapped out new one!
- rocking trackpad button noisy , kept sticking
- lid made grating noise when trying open/close it
- 1 of holes in left speaker grille not punched way through
- crooked return key


, one:

4th mbp (week 26 build, samsung led panel)
- perfect display! (had little worry scrolling bands thing it's fixed itself)
- no kernel panics far!
- no battery/sleep issues far!


problems i've had 1 far are:

- keyboard freeze when waking deep sleep - wouldn't work minute or so
- last night spun beachball , whole system froze such couldn't force quit , had restart holding power button down. along couple of safari crashes pissed me off not had troubles since then
- i'm getting around 2hrs 45 mins battery life - running on wireless safari , ichat open; brightness around 3 pips max.


apart not-so-great battery life (under 3 hrs) :confused: , weird freeze-up it's working rather nicely, display awesome , it's cosmetically perfect (the return key *still* tad wonky i've come expect that!)


i've been sitting outside in sunshine on roof terrace , first notebook i've ever used can read display outside! :cool:


loving it! :) :) :) think machine can use!


...now let's hope haven't jinxed anything...

don't worry battery life, it's not great , without turning down display (or having on auto, that's i've settled with) you're not going more.

you've had lot of samsung panels, haven't you! quite incredible really, wonder percentage of each type apple using.

anyway, yes, - enjoy, , done sticking out irritating issues. hope you're finding result worthwhile!

ok want macbook. im waiting couple of things. first of leapord of course. secondly when next hardware update going happen because figure must judgeing when last update was. things thats holding me getting 1 graphics card. want light video editing such capturing footage or small sd projects use imac hd , large project editing. light gaming, aoe iii, battlefield games, , wow. can wait while before end of year/ january. when guys think update happen (i know there bunch of speculation already) , if not guys think should go ahead , macbook (after leapord update of course). im not looking absolutly stellar performance in editing , gaming, have desktop that, travel , general use. dont want 1 of people goes "well whats coming should wait that" because in computers never end. im in bit of conundrum, guys think should do?   also if possible can tell me gma 950 card far how video preview works fin...

Powerbook G4 power issue

good evening , first post =) i'll try start out on right foot , sound half-way intelligent. acquired gimped powerbook g4 1 of our 'daughter' companies. laptop works fine when using a/c adapter. if unplug a/c adapter while power on, screen/keyboard lights go off. however, hard drive still spinning. if plug a/c adapter in, lcd backlight comes on, not display on screen. have hold power button down few seconds power down completely. upon turning on, works fine again. sound battery issue or motherboard problem? have checked battery serial number against recall list , 1 supposably good. in advance!   to me sounds hardware (or possibly software) problem. run permissions repair (using disc utility) , make sure software date (use software update check). fresh install of osx may solve too, had similar problem ibook , sorted it, may motherboard issue; if have hardware test disc, run...

Apple Script

okay im going lay down problem explian have tried. cool responces. problem have external program saves files path blaa/blaa/movies way in saves these movies compreses movies files 1 file in folder. eg puts different compents folder bundles them delates orginals. problem disc saving doesnt have enough room movies needs store. cant set location of store movies have try route them somewhere. first of when tried making alias folder on different disk program gave me message saying cant save file. thinking of thought make workflow gets items in folder movies them location. tested work flow , worked perfectly. problem getting automated when ever file made in directory. script came , attacheted vie folder actions doesnt work ??? wtf?? help? on adding folder items this_folder after receiving added_items tell application "macintosh hd:users:username:library:workflows:applications:folder actions:moviefile.app" open added_items end...
