PC Question....is it dying?

my pc, hardly use own mb, refusing copy files dvd. when put in dvd, seems recognize dvd , such, when try move picture files onto it, says "windows encountered problem trying copy file." individual files or groups of them. in addition this, makes loud noises.

mean harddrives dying? should invest in new harddrive , install linux? how can data off of these drives, if won't put them on dvd's me?
 

you can buy cheap hdd or usbstick.
