Processor Speed Please Explain like a 4yr old

ok deal:

planning on buying me 20" 2.4 imac in october.. (will 1st mac) , not understand processor speed configurations. have 3yr old pc has processor "speed" of 3.4 ghtz , fsb of 800.

how new imac compare numbers??

thanks... dont it. tried google , in forums , have not found clear 4yr old type of explanation this... more confused... .

it destroy 4th grader vs. pitbull.

2.4ghz imac dual core processor, ala 2.4 + 2.4 = 4.8, super simple , innacurate. spirit same.

plus, architecture of cpu's changed few years back. before, climb raw megahurtz. well, figured out better ways it, 3 year old 3ghz processor isn't powerful new intel core2duo 1.8ghz.

had pentium4 2.8ghz cpu 2 gigs of ram. same photoshop test took 5 minutes on it, , 52 seconds on imac 2.4ghz.

trust me, new cpu's ++++++++++++++ old ones.
