Will Apple quickly drop the 8GB Touch?

i can see lot of people here have by-passed 8gb , gone straight 16gb touch model.

can speculate @ point in near future, apple release 16gb iphone too, given they've fitted amount of flash touch sized package.

given example of 4gb iphone being discontinued 2 months after launch, if sales figures poor 8gb touch, apple drop altogether , stick 16gb only?

edit: i'm not talking next product cycle have suggested, i'm thinking apple might give 8gb model bad idea right start.
