New iMac and firewire transfer mode

i've got weird situation new imac 2.8 "extreme" in not "see" old peer.. g4 slowsilver build-in firewire relative bought. apple care told me "not models compatible migration assistant". however, new imac wont mount old pc firewire disk. firewire on imac works lacie external disk using same wire

but, migration assistant works new macbook has no problem mounting old g4 disk firewire if boot g4 in firewire mode

@ loss since both imac , macbook have same os , barely 3 month apart :confused:

clues? applecare totally worthless here in be... recommend "migrating" manually , washed hands :eek:

have been trying call them day phone forever busy , can't through...:mad:
 

if you're trying think are, should work fine.

fact mount on macbook not on imac weird, , not normal, i'm not thinking of reason it--maybe else have suggestion.

if want one-time workaround, this: clone g4's hard drive external lacie have, use migration assistant on that. i've done before on few occasions.

Mini-DVI to DVI-I?

How to best wire an entire house mac...(I want a touch screen in my bathroom)

so here's basic idea- have 2 floor apartment , want have total access media @ times. here thoughts on want , how i'm guess done, need advice... watching movies/divx/etc macmini plugged hdtv . mini serve primary machine in apartment. stream videos external hd bay connected airport extreme. control of machine wireless computer concealed tinted glass. itunes direct connection macmini surround receiver first floor. itunes stream airport express base stations upstairs , on terrace, including bathrooms. control of system problem prefer keep on primary machine downstairs, interested in 2 things. if wanted change music playing, don't want have go downstairs, nor want have separate machine control upstairs. investigating touch screens, or using macbook when upstairs or on terrace. there way gain control of macmini on network using different machines in house? program: http://www2.smarttech.com/st/en-us/products/synchron...
