i've played around new imac while now, , have come across issues 3d performance, thought i'd share i've found - may explain poor performance seen @ times. i've been using windows 3d, i've seen same thing in osx, guess drivers based on same code both. first - performance overall good. when people radeon 2600 slow card - true when compare high end cards. it's quite fast, , should handle latest games @ reasonable speed + quality (i'm not gamer though, i've not tried it). 3d stuff use has run better expected. - catch. i've noticed can run things @ full resolution (1920x1200) 4x aa, , runs fine - until new textures loaded, , stutters badly second or so. reckon have pretty big impact on frame rate figures, bench marks etc. happens often. asked friend (who wrote 1 of bits of software in question), , reply "yes, ati 2xxx series drivers break cache warming". happens - when new texture needed, it's ...

(this cross-post between mentioned on thread . however, i'm reposting seperately others can see easier , benefit it.) figured out how around gradient issue having. appears booting standard color lcd profile (or profile created colorsync) caused distinct banding when looking @ color gradient image attached. however, if switched srgb profile or color profile downloaded off forums (i assume not created using colorsync), restarted mbp, , looked @ same color gradient banding less apparent. tested on friends sr mbp , got same results. once restarted can switch standard color lcd profile , gradient still good. however, you're square 1 if restart (or think if load lcdtest2 or 1 of apps) profile. makes me think color banding people see not result of 6-bit screen other issue actual color profile aswell. doesn't rid of yellowish hue might have toward bottom of screen (the reason why i'm taking mbp back), should make gradients better. let m...

where can have harddrive upgraded bigger one, can myself or there sites/vendors me. thinking of ditching 120gb 200 or 250gb hd on macbook white, 2.16ghz, 1gb ram, 13" mac.   i hd @ someplace online or @ bestbuy, have 200gig hard drive 150 bucks, not bad! it's straightforward install. take battery out , see 3 screws on silver part on upper side of macbook (farthest edge) these screws held in inscrew them , wont fall out. if don't know wut i'm talking about, around how upgrade macbook ram. can take hd out using white piece of plastic see when have removed part 3 screws. unscrew harddrive tray , screw new hd onto tray , put new hd in. simple, takes 10 or 15 minutes (you need small phillips screwdriver, small screwdriver, , small hex piece)   Forums Macs ...
