buying external harddrive for pro-tools, bottlenecking issues...

i have ibook g4 , dont is, why protools reccommend buying external harddrive full performance, because firewire speeds 40mb sec, doesn't internal harddrives have faster speeds 40mb sec, becuase internal? guess i'm trying is, want new external harddrive 500gb regardless of audio. can buy reg ones $130 or can go out , oxford 911 chipsets , bla bla bla improve performance protools being storage drive. suggestions money vs performance? if have experience performance boosts external hardrive vs. internal.

also, want ibook running best of abilities, % of harddrive space need have left before see performance issues, , there program out there eliminates having worry ur disc space becuase how optomizes it? i'm looking program optimize if freshly formatted. thank you.
 

well can't answer asked, external hardrive recommend mybook pro.

use 250 gig 1 (but comes in 500 gig), , has firewire 400, usb 2.0, , firewire 800.

have ibook g4 1.2 ghz , 1.25 gigs of ram.

feel it's not bad idea pro version since when upgrade firewire 800 immensely helpful, , drive should still more usable.

in case, drive helps computer go *much* faster. has faster hardrive speed, 7200 rpm ibooks 4200 rpm. 400 mb/s firewire 400 nothing scoff at.

use photoshop @ 11x17 300 dpi 30+ layers no slowdowns whatsoever. (while using mybook pro external scratch disk).

have both adobe lightrooms , itunes libraries located on mybook in order work raw files , save internal hardrive having deal of music.

external hardrive make new machine out of ibook.

use onyx optimize system, , keep around 30 gigs of space free on internal hardrive.

onyx, +1 gig of ram, , mybook pro, computer runs fast laptops being sold *today*. so... yeah.

Mini-DVI to DVI-I?

How to best wire an entire house mac...(I want a touch screen in my bathroom)

so here's basic idea- have 2 floor apartment , want have total access media @ times. here thoughts on want , how i'm guess done, need advice... watching movies/divx/etc macmini plugged hdtv . mini serve primary machine in apartment. stream videos external hd bay connected airport extreme. control of machine wireless computer concealed tinted glass. itunes direct connection macmini surround receiver first floor. itunes stream airport express base stations upstairs , on terrace, including bathrooms. control of system problem prefer keep on primary machine downstairs, interested in 2 things. if wanted change music playing, don't want have go downstairs, nor want have separate machine control upstairs. investigating touch screens, or using macbook when upstairs or on terrace. there way gain control of macmini on network using different machines in house? program: http://www2.smarttech.com/st/en-us/products/synchron...
