iPhoto 08 issues... who has them?

hi all,
having installed iphoto 08 have few, hmmmm, shall say, observations share & ask comments.
quite impressed, many worthy changes & more powerful tools. events function fantastic way images organised easily.
but... after while started find sorts of problems arising. should have on 7000 images in library including lot of raw stuff. in many cases raw & simultaneously shot jpg.
first issue started slow, slow. (2ghz intel imac 2g ram , on 100g of spare disc space).
first total omg moment... images gone. show thumbnail, export thumbview, when clicked on blank screen oddly still allow view photo info. searching image reveal in place supposed be. can opened preview etc etc. iphoto won't see it.
apple advice on fixing followed no avail.
advice on apple forums terribly helpful fruitless http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadid=1111834&tstart=0
if search apple forums you'll find many similar problems pop-up.

so, thats tip of iceberg me.
experiences of others?
1 of thoughts perhaps apple busy building iphoto 08 programme that's optimised leopard neglected ensure stability under other versions of os.
reading & i'll interested read thoughts.
cheers
rex

okay let me never used old version, started using mac right after new ilife came out. but, let me say...its extremely buggy, compared of other applications in ilife - garageband, , imovie works dream. iphoto fast when had small amount of photos, (like you) have lot of photos - , seems more photos load, slower gets. hoping better ilike update did couple of weeks ago. no, lol.
