Will a C2D (not SR) MBP suffice for media work?

as many of aware, trying trade imac in mbp media work in final cut express , cs3. i've been looking @ many different options, , looking @ possibility of getting last gen c2d mbp cheaper sr.

2.16 or 2.33 mbp 3gb of ram work these afore mentioned tasks or sr boost upgradeable 4gb of ram provide large enough difference should spend money?

seeing people praised last gen of mbps before gen arrived, don't think it'd problem. they're great 3 months ago..

Mini-DVI to DVI-I?

How to best wire an entire house mac...(I want a touch screen in my bathroom)

so here's basic idea- have 2 floor apartment , want have total access media @ times. here thoughts on want , how i'm guess done, need advice... watching movies/divx/etc macmini plugged hdtv . mini serve primary machine in apartment. stream videos external hd bay connected airport extreme. control of machine wireless computer concealed tinted glass. itunes direct connection macmini surround receiver first floor. itunes stream airport express base stations upstairs , on terrace, including bathrooms. control of system problem prefer keep on primary machine downstairs, interested in 2 things. if wanted change music playing, don't want have go downstairs, nor want have separate machine control upstairs. investigating touch screens, or using macbook when upstairs or on terrace. there way gain control of macmini on network using different machines in house? program: http://www2.smarttech.com/st/en-us/products/synchron...
