recommendation for an external hard drive

hi everyone,
i've used search function try find can external hard drives. know ordering newegg, have gathered. fyi, have mbp, c2d 2.16 1gb ram installed.

looking 250-320gb external hard drive. imagine down road running larger apps off of it, used hold thesis data (mostly photoshop files, illustrator , various other files). spend between 100-150 (less better).

trying decide between seagate , wd. don't have particular preference between two. both have multi-year warranties.
given foresee running apps off of in future, best find 1 firewire drive? or usb ok that?

also, given programs coming out leopard, matter how easy (ie 1 touch vs programs etc) be? don't mind doing things manually while, know tend forget excited new feature in leopard.

has enclosure , hard drive list...it's cheaper seperately 1 directly company wd or seagate. said, can find decent 1 on sale. check newegg.com ones in enclosures if don't want put in (it's pretty easy though).

fw way go due sustained transfer speed, have had no issue running apps usb well. fw if possible.

How to best wire an entire house mac...(I want a touch screen in my bathroom)

so here's basic idea- have 2 floor apartment , want have total access media @ times. here thoughts on want , how i'm guess done, need advice... watching movies/divx/etc macmini plugged hdtv . mini serve primary machine in apartment. stream videos external hd bay connected airport extreme. control of machine wireless computer concealed tinted glass. itunes direct connection macmini surround receiver first floor. itunes stream airport express base stations upstairs , on terrace, including bathrooms. control of system problem prefer keep on primary machine downstairs, interested in 2 things. if wanted change music playing, don't want have go downstairs, nor want have separate machine control upstairs. investigating touch screens, or using macbook when upstairs or on terrace. there way gain control of macmini on network using different machines in house? program: http://www2.smarttech.com/st/en-us/products/synchron...
