hi all, i'm wondering if can me out small(ish) problem i'm having.
i'm @ university , have paid have internet in room, however, 1 computer can use connection. imac connected via cat5 want able use macbook on net (if try attaching macbook asks pay again- i'm assuming network detects mac address of machine , since both computers have different macs won't let me connect without paying)
want know how wirelessly bridge connection imac macbook can share connection.
time
that's interesting setup... i've never heard of in us. i've never heard of in uk either....
assuming consistent license (in other words, if have difficulties uni this, it's own problem), here options....
1) if you're allowed pay fee once router, seem ideal solution. might have pay fee again, though. how it?
2) can share ethernet connection on wifi imac, asked for: on imac, system preferences -> sharing -> internet -> share connection built-in ethernet, computers using airport, configure airport options wish, , click start. limitation of don't think have access ports on client computer (the macbook). might not able use im instance....
3) guess spoof imac mac onto macbook, not operate simultaneously on network without getting confused.
