I tried booting my ibook w/ MBP startup disks...bad results.

i'm relatively new macs , wanted try clean install (or erase , install) on ibook. purchased mbp , since leopard on horizon, wanted "trial run" of installing updated operating system. know can hit update instead of doing clean install, i've been reading things run better when fresh install. old ibook still has panther on , figured try install tiger on mbp disks. know represents violation of license, thought worth ensure don't make major mistakes when i'm doing same procedure brand new mbp when leopard gets released. when tried booting disk ibook got kernel panic interpreted sign not idea abandoned project. every time try start ibook kernel panic , i'm afraid broke old computer. advice on how fix this, or explanation of went wrong helpful. way first post, although read forums every chance get. thank you.

macbook pro installation discs built intel processors, ibook's don't have intel processor.
