MP3 Safari Streaming w/ .htaccess?

so have portion of mp3 collection uploaded on web hosting service. safe, have given directory located standard username & password protection using .htaccess.

problem is, iphone's safari won't stream mp3's authentication in place. streams without .htaccess usthentication piece, consistently "movie not played" errors with. stream in every computer-based browser throw @ regardless.

little random, know, wondering if had ideas. nice have (secure) access more media considering obvious memory limitations of iphone.
