removing/merging a partition

hi all, spot of appreciated.

have 2 partitions on macbook pro rather annoyingly pre set when computer delivered me (computer provided local education authority pre-installed software on partition) have split hard drive 2 partitions both 74gb , dearly have 1 intend install bootcamp , not want 3 partitions!

ideally not want have format whole hard drive , re install os x apple official line seems suggest. if case still have no idea how further guidance appreciated!


partitions follows:
macintosh hd mac os extended
data disk mac os extended (journaled)


ps. i'm brand new mac go easy on me please... ;)

i don't know how merge 2 hfs partitions (and i'm not sure it's possible), here's bucket game try (note you'll need os x dvd or linux livecd).

example, let's want 90 gb of os x , 50 gb of windows. i'm assuming current os x install pretty small (as it's new , hasn't been filled apps , files yet)

warning: dangerous. attempt @ own risk, , wait error-check me first.

1) move files want keep data partition main os x one. in finder via usual method.

2) erase data partition, , repartition 20 gb of fat32 , 50 gb of hfs+.

3) insert os install dvd*, restart, , hold down c key. navigate disk utility (you have close installer , not restart). you'll rest here.

4) copy os x install on 50 gb hfs+ install. click on 50 gb hfs disk, go "restore" tab, , drag os x disk "source" , other hfs disk "destination".

5) when that's done, erase original os x volume , fat 32 volume. should have 90-100 gb of free space in front of drive, , 50 gb of hfs in back.

6) turn free space hfs+j partition.

7) restore os x rightful place on new hfs+j partition.

8) wipe hfs partition , leave free space.

9) boot os x. should well. burn boot camp driver cd boot camp application, not mess drive formatting. insert windows install cd , begin windows install process boot camp, putting partition in empty space (which should in 50 gb realm).

10) when finish windows install, insert driver cd , install drivers.

11) there no step 11 :)

* = if don't have install dvd on hand, of can accomplished mac connected via firewire while you're in target disk mode.

Mini-DVI to DVI-I?

New iMac here - LOVING the Mighty Mouse

i have mbp, , talked wife getting imac after dell (she loathed machine, made sell easy) crapped bed. when deciding on bluetooth mouse mbp, passed on mighty mouse wireles becasue of review here seemed negative. ordered corded version imac came friday. long story short, have been using mm , found quite enjoyable! in fact prefer logitech v220 im using now. found out have tendency lift left finger off botton when using normal 2 button mouse. made use of mm natural me. absolute best part of mm freaking scroll ball. orgasmic use!! l o v e mechanical smoothness , feel of ball in motion. using app steermouse able fine tune puppy perfect. on fence mm, let me assure pretty awesome, , person ultra picky point of ocd mice.   good review! imac prepared shipping, should coming in few days. i'm going using standard wired mm comes it, positive feedback on it. worried going horrible,...
