Just got a used iMac G4; maintenance/update question

salutations!

minutes ago, posted first response in thread. now, begin one.

have acquired imac g4; delivered in 3 days.

have never used imac g4, nor have played 1 extensively. however, managed download manual , read on how replace ram, airport cards, etc.

interested in knowing (from experienced folks) should software-wise make work champion once it. specifically:

1. can handle tiger? leopard?
2. if used audio server, can strip down os install? how?
3. how 1 set "file server" i've read here?
4. other ideas of fun stuff can it?

soon, recieving imac g5, g4 not used main functions (typing, browsing, photo editing). curious how make run superbly, looking ideas other things can it.

yes, no problem. make sure have @ least around 768 mb ram. more ram = more happy os x

it doesn't need tweaking audio server (unless you're serving 100 other computers), it's more powerful enough is.

just throw on network using ethernet cable, turn on file sharing in sharing system pref, on remote mac select 'go > network' finder's menu bar.

the question more, couldn't it. imac g4 still capable of doing can ask of it.

good evening , first post =) i'll try start out on right foot , sound half-way intelligent. acquired gimped powerbook g4 1 of our 'daughter' companies. laptop works fine when using a/c adapter. if unplug a/c adapter while power on, screen/keyboard lights go off. however, hard drive still spinning. if plug a/c adapter in, lcd backlight comes on, not display on screen. have hold power button down few seconds power down completely. upon turning on, works fine again. sound battery issue or motherboard problem? have checked battery serial number against recall list , 1 supposably good. in advance!   to me sounds hardware (or possibly software) problem. run permissions repair (using disc utility) , make sure software date (use software update check). fresh install of osx may solve too, had similar problem ibook , sorted it, may motherboard issue; if have hardware test disc, run...

MacBook hang up PLEASE HELP!

ok want macbook. im waiting couple of things. first of leapord of course. secondly when next hardware update going happen because figure must judgeing when last update was. things thats holding me getting 1 graphics card. want light video editing such capturing footage or small sd projects use imac hd , large project editing. light gaming, aoe iii, battlefield games, , wow. can wait while before end of year/ january. when guys think update happen (i know there bunch of speculation already) , if not guys think should go ahead , macbook (after leapord update of course). im not looking absolutly stellar performance in editing , gaming, have desktop that, travel , general use. dont want 1 of people goes "well whats coming should wait that" because in computers never end. im in bit of conundrum, guys think should do?   also if possible can tell me gma 950 card far how video preview works fin...

okay im going lay down problem explian have tried. cool responces. problem have external program saves files path blaa/blaa/movies way in saves these movies compreses movies files 1 file in folder. eg puts different compents folder bundles them delates orginals. problem disc saving doesnt have enough room movies needs store. cant set location of store movies have try route them somewhere. first of when tried making alias folder on different disk program gave me message saying cant save file. thinking of thought make workflow gets items in folder movies them location. tested work flow , worked perfectly. problem getting automated when ever file made in directory. script came , attacheted vie folder actions doesnt work ??? wtf?? help? on adding folder items this_folder after receiving added_items tell application "macintosh hd:users:username:library:workflows:applications:folder actions:moviefile.app" open added_items end...
