Does the macbook require a "non-standard" 9.5mm _optical drive_?

the combo drive on macbook severely crunched , won't let cd slide in without lot of force, need replace. seeing few reports on interwebs macbook, opposed macbook pro has room thinner-than-normal 9.5mm-tall optical drive, not normal 12.5mm-tall ones.

true?
has had success installing 12.5mm-tall drive?
in world can buy 9.5mm-tall style?

i'm otherwise loving new macbook. came windows power user , programmer. os x way better development!

both macbook pro , macbook use slim 9.5mm drives since mbp thinner mb, old powerbooks , ibooks used thicker drives, no more. google macbook superdrive (or combodrive) , should results. bear in mind won't cheap. apple pretty company using these drives, hence mark
