Mac Pro Hard Drive Setup Advice

hi all,

have 2.66ghz mac pro 3gb of ram. planning on installing leopard (when appears) onto raid array , having third drive backup. fourth drive windows xp game drive. plan @ moment:

boot volume (leopard)
raid '0'
bay 1: seagate 320gb
bay 2: seagate 320gb

backup volume (time machine backup)
bay 3: western digital 250gb

windows xp (gaming)
bay 4: wd 120gb

pro graphics using cs3 (indesign mainly) , pro audio using logic. want maximum performance mp.

see problems or more optimal way of doing this? raid 0 array work boot volume , increase performance of machine? has else had experience type of setup?

i've trawled forum there numerous hdd threads nothing has setup.

, comments appreciated.

i suggest getting 750gb disk (or larger) time machine backup drive. you've got 640gb in raid0 not fault tolerant , @ increased risk of failure opposed single disk.

using time machine fancy 'recall past' feature going require more storage achieve volume of data you're backing up.

of course if you're prepared lose data haven't backed smaller drive fine.

yes raid0 work , give better performance.

decided on compromise on new setup. have 2 500gb drives, used create 300gb raid 1 boot , applications , 400gb raid 0 aperture library , scratch space. obvioulsly raid 0 gets backed frequently.

has advantage of giving performance aperture (and make big difference) , if disk fails can boot other disk, , restore data raid 0 backup , carry on until can disk replaced.
