FW 400 vs 800 for editing HDV

ok, gonna external hdd (or 2 or 3 eventually) , 1 of uses hold hdv video while it's being edited in imovie/(maybe) fce. fw400 drive show difference in real word performance (for task) compared fw800?

fw400 sustains close 50mb/s, fw800 can hit 100mb/s, sata150/pata133 drives can move 90mb/s, , sataii potentially 180+mb/s. however, drives barely max out sata150 bandwidth.

now, aic 1080i60 uses 14mb/s, fw400 should able read 2 streams , write 1 @ same time... but, that's math. real world different. other concern be, of course, imac has 1 fw400 channel , 1 fw800, using 800 drive , 400 camera during importing?

anyways, fw400 drives cheaper , have more features similar drives fw800 connections, makes sense fw800 capable drive it offer real world performance difference.

input!

i have both , find no performance difference when editing hdv.
