Macs Better for Creative Work: A Myth?

the idea macs (by mean os x, really) better creative work quite common one, never gave thought until met worked local sysco plant guy specializing in macs. hired maintain , troubleshoot 6 or macs used graphic designers keep on staff. rest of office uses windows machines, , there's regular department dedicated them.

thought myself, "gee, isn't little excessive?" mean, of adobe apps have had windows versions ages, , seems waste spend money on buying macs , hiring special guy. furthermore, logic pro such joke audio guys use pro tools (yep, there's windows version). same story dreamweaver web design.

exception can think of pro video, final cut takes big chunk of market (even though there lot of people using premiere pro too, again comes in windows version).

ask, big advantage creative types missing? there claim or myth?

i think "macs better creative work" same way "microsoft office better business work". it's software want use. , there 2 reasons use particular software on particular platform: compatibility, , quality.

compatibility more important , sets de factor standard. wouldn't send business proposal in staroffice write format if expect taken seriously. word processor choose use doesn't affect skill @ writing proposals, , in fact if forced use obscure writing tool, you'd surely manage fine.

bad carpenter blames tools, nice tools sure work done better , faster. apple happens make lot of nice tools. :)

Mini-DVI to DVI-I?

New iMac here - LOVING the Mighty Mouse

i have mbp, , talked wife getting imac after dell (she loathed machine, made sell easy) crapped bed. when deciding on bluetooth mouse mbp, passed on mighty mouse wireles becasue of review here seemed negative. ordered corded version imac came friday. long story short, have been using mm , found quite enjoyable! in fact prefer logitech v220 im using now. found out have tendency lift left finger off botton when using normal 2 button mouse. made use of mm natural me. absolute best part of mm freaking scroll ball. orgasmic use!! l o v e mechanical smoothness , feel of ball in motion. using app steermouse able fine tune puppy perfect. on fence mm, let me assure pretty awesome, , person ultra picky point of ocd mice.   good review! imac prepared shipping, should coming in few days. i'm going using standard wired mm comes it, positive feedback on it. worried going horrible,...
