Getting data as zipped format using PHP

hello

here table structure

document_name,
document_meta_data searching,
document_content

need allow user fetch documents based on various meta data information. corresponding documents blob data each 1-2mb of text.

once user search show him list of names. dont query document_content not required.

now, have provide option allow user download document_content returned query zip file.

basically, want query database result, make temporary zip or tar gz file @ server allowed downloading , once user downloads file deleted server.

how should approach problem? pointers info appreciated.

New iMac here - LOVING the Mighty Mouse
