Get videos off camera without iPhoto?

so, took rather lengthy movie (about 16 minutes) on canon powershot s2 (1 gb memory card). now, cannot off camera using iphoto (says, "you have 1 [piece of media]", , when try load iphoto, computer churns few minutes before returning photo library without video there - have no problem (much) shorter videos). , imovie doesn't register camera camcorder (because it's not), video stuck on camera. have suggestions alternative ways off there (and also, why iphoto isn't working)?
 

you use canon software came camera, or try using image capure, or use card reader.
