Get Info-Why HD capacity isn't the same as HD's spec?

ok, i'm stumped why this.

macbook came 80 gig hd. why in 'get info' capacity 74.21 gigs?

same external drive. bought it....a 250 gig drive. why when use 'get info' tells me capacity 232.74 gigs??

not supposed have whatever installed on these drives, yes?

don't tell me drivers eating space.

external came bit on 1 gig in "extras". if advertised 250, heck missing 18 gigs? 18 gigs missing? thats size of recording drive on old system! thats alot.
on apple drive.....where missing 6 gigs? don't it. :confused:

New iMac here - LOVING the Mighty Mouse

i have mbp, , talked wife getting imac after dell (she loathed machine, made sell easy) crapped bed. when deciding on bluetooth mouse mbp, passed on mighty mouse wireles becasue of review here seemed negative. ordered corded version imac came friday. long story short, have been using mm , found quite enjoyable! in fact prefer logitech v220 im using now. found out have tendency lift left finger off botton when using normal 2 button mouse. made use of mm natural me. absolute best part of mm freaking scroll ball. orgasmic use!! l o v e mechanical smoothness , feel of ball in motion. using app steermouse able fine tune puppy perfect. on fence mm, let me assure pretty awesome, , person ultra picky point of ocd mice.   good review! imac prepared shipping, should coming in few days. i'm going using standard wired mm comes it, positive feedback on it. worried going horrible,...
