Need help for documentary

hi guys, i'm preparing myself shoot documentary on 3 hunters in north america. there budget, quite interesting not million! wondering if me advices pro documentary filmmakers first step broadcast filmmaking. basicaly, have hdv camera might go on hd channels... problem? (hdv vs. hd) and, can wire 3 hunters wireless mics or should boom them... espacially if there lot of running around equipment?

camera own canon xh-a1

thanks!

afaik no network take hdv delivery format , @ least won't take program if hdv main format used. keep selling short down road might want renting full sized sony or panasonic hd camera. best way plan production start @ end first. nail down final delivery format (or @ least various networks/cable stations accept hd) , use starting point. entire work flow based around efficient, cost effective, , high quality way doc onto final delivery format.

might consider enlisting consultant mike curtis has awesome hdforindies.com blog. spending few hundred bucks (or whatever, i'm not sure how mike charges) on consultant mike plan solid workflow can literally save thousands, possible tens of thousands, of dollars (not mention lot of stress) down line. you'll want editor involved (yes, post production guy involved in pre-production) production , post can on same page. last thing want shoot whole thing have yer editor go, "oh, well, guys should've shot in mode x, not mode y."
