MBP + Cinema Display > new iMac?

hi all,

i'm making purchase (bank account willing) , had been assuming i'd going new imac. i've been looking through "post mac setup" thread , surprised how many people using laptop , external display instead of desktop. i'd been told (years ago, admittedly) should buy laptop if *needed* 1 - more go wrong , harder/more expensive fix when did. now, don't *need* laptop come in useful.

in short, i'm wondering if should go laptop , external display, rather desktop - killing 2 birds, guess. lowest spec macbook improvement on current g4. i'd appreciate hearing general thoughts.

oh, 1 other specific question: apple's own displays wildly expensive - worth it? frankly, don't want dell (or other) logo on desk in event, i'm still troubled price ...

, advice welcome! in advance.
 

a decent macbook pro specced out, external keyboard, mouse , display such compromise. versatile , powerful enough things. doesn't take lot of wear , tear when used in clamshell mode. quiet , saves lot of space too. new favorite setup...

wouldn't dream of using anything else! :d

Currys UK online order nightmare!

i'm disappointed in currys' online service. ordered 16gb touch, once had received confirmation email realised address had wrong house number. tried call them, , bounced around 5 different phone numbers (some repeated, different instructions!) , turned out best advice give me cancel order, , order again change house number! how outrageous. anyway, cancelled order , didnt bother ordering again. time i'm going official apple store. it'll take few more days deliver, better discount voucher. oh, know lazy , myself, apple store's refund policy, if find touch not me can return within 28 days, if isnt defective? because i'd rather have classic?   oh dear god... thought had cancelled it. turns out happened call again due lack of confirmation on cancellation, , said not possible me cancel order had apparently been dispatched already. summing up, have wait ipod (whi...
