Did I paint myself into a corner? (RAID question)

ok, decided play around , make raid set mac pro. audio , video , lot of games, figured added performance boost nice.

data on drives had (a partition/disk every job), had juggle data of evening. first moved data off of 2 drives, striped , reinstalled os x on. used migration assistant move home folder , apps over. of apps crashing, btw, that's rant.

so, after juggling, have os, apps , docs on 1 striped set. cool beans. wanted next create second striped set , mirror them. make set 2 , go mirror 2 and...it tells me can't without erasing data.

don't have enough external storage move data off 4 disks , start over. fooked?

yes, can't create type of setup without 4 blank disks. you're not screwed, can't it. why though? while raid0+1 set might cool, it's not necessary. chronosync , nightly backups 2 drives of data. can use striped pair run os , things off daily, , @ night backup data.

personally, having os, apps , data on single striped set make me waaaaaay nervous. lose anything, lose all.
