a friend of mine , discussing potential replacement of mac mini might , came with... naturally... mac nano!
case: size of
tv, no space optical drive.
processor: core duo, or low-end core 2 duo, 1.8 - 2.0 ghz
memory: 1 gb, or 1.5 gb, not upgradable
optical drive: none
storage: 20 - 30 gb flash
ports: usb, power, mini-dvi, gigabit ethernet, audio in/out, mac nano stack connector
wireless: bluetooth , wi-fi 802.11n
display: none
no moving parts! no fan, no optical drive, no hard disk, no firewire. solid state.
so, what's "mac nano stack connector"? special connector on bottom of mac nano can used stack devices below it. these devices similar mac mini add-ons sold 3rd parties added hard drives, etc. connector on bottom permit stacking.
stack connector includes 2 (or more) usb 2.0 channels , power. permit cable-less connection between mac nano , stack accessories. apple offer external cd-rom, dvd+/-rw, , hard disks. third parties offer similar accessories. stack accessories have connector on top mate mac nano, , connector on bottom mate other accessories. of course, mac nano have clean
on top.

nice idea youre going run implementation problems.
start, 20-30gb of flash storage going cost fortune.
also, brilliant core chips are, still run warm. they'd more overheat in fanless enclosure small you're suggesting.
finally, i'd question need smaller mac mini. far me stand in way of progress, slimming down tiny computer doesn't produce enough gains justify in opinion.
but, said, nice ideas. i'm sure we'll see few years in future.
